Our Team

For more than 25 years, AHRI has provided Australian grain growers with solution-driven research to address herbicide resistance.

Our team investigates how weeds evolve resistance to herbicides, as well as how weeds adapt to cultural and mechanical farm practices. AHRI research results are disseminated through the AHRI insight newsletter as well as through face-to-face communications from our research academics. AHRI works closely with the WeedSmart team to ensure researched solutions are delivered back to farmers and their advisors.

History

Commencing in 1998 as the Western Australian Herbicide Resistance Initiative (WAHRI) with investment from GRDC, AHRI is now a national research and communication centre, delivering impact across the broadacre cropping industry. The AHRI team of 14 researchers and communication specialists, plus postgraduate students are based at The University of Western Australia, School of Agriculture and Environment.
