The Australian Herbicide Resistance Initiative (AHRI) is a national research and communication team based at the University of Western Australia. AHRI receives major investment from the Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) and is a GRDC national centre.
AHRI research focuses on crop science, weed science and herbicide resistance in the Australian grains industry.

Our team examines how weeds evolution resistance to herbicides, as well as the adaptations of weeds to cultural and mechanical farm practices. Our communications team ensures researched solutions are delivered back to farmers and their advisors.

Commencing in 1998 as the Western Australian Herbicide Resistance Initiative (WAHRI) with investment from GRDC, AHRI is now a national research and communication centre, delivering impact across the broadacre cropping industry. The AHRI team of 14 researchers and communication specialists, plus postgraduate students are based at The University of Western Australia, School of Agriculture and Environment.
